Lawyer Volunteer Form

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Artists’ Legal Information Society (“ALIS”). We are always searching for volunteer lawyers who are willing to provide their time and experience to helping artists in Nova Scotia. There are a few different ways in which you can volunteer: The Clinic: ALIS provides a Clinic which is a pro bono initiative to provide artists with legal information. Lawyers will usually meet with an ALIS client and provide legal information. Lawyers may also choose to answer the questions via email if this works best for either the lawyer or the client. Client meetings typically last approximately half an hour but may take up to an hour depending on the complexity of the questions. Seminars/Conferences/Presentations: ALIS organizes conferences and seminars which provide legal information to certain specific groups. Lawyers who are interested in being a speaker or leading a discussion group would be asked to prepare the presentation. These presentations/seminars/conferences generally last approximately two hours. Miscellaneous: Should a special project come up that fits into your practice areas, ALIS may contact you to see if you would be interested in participating in such a project. These projects may include revising and editing a piece for publication, etc. Time commitments will vary depending on the project, but ALIs will attempt to provide a general idea of what sort of time commitment will be associated with each project.
